Removing Pet Stains
There are several stain remover products available in the market but you could simply clean the stain without even rushing to the store to buy those costly products. How? The moment the stain crop up, clean it up immediately.
You could clean up stains by using simple things like detergents, rubbing alcohol, lemon juice, vinegar among others. You just have to know what kind of stain in your carpet since there are specialized ways to clean a specific kind of stain.
To help you, here are some guidelines on cleaning stains of different types:
Pet stain
- Use 1 teaspoon of clear, household type ammonia to a 1/2-cup of cold water. You spray the solution or you can apply it to the carpet directly. After applying the solution, you can use paper towels to splotch then wait for it to dry completely.
- Use detergent solution whether a hand soap or dish soap. But the soap should not have bleach or lanolin. Mix one quarter of a teaspoon detergent to one quarter of water. Then apply the mixture to the stain.
- The best solution is by simply using water. Water would be able to re-hydrate the stain to its removal. You could also use a steam cleaner for best results
Ink Stains
- Buy isopropyl-rubbing alcohol.
- Pouring some alcohol onto a clean white towel, hand towel or cloth.
- Blot the stain until it is removed.
- Be very careful because if the stain is too small, you just need to blot in one direction only, if not, you could spread the stain even more.
Beer and wine stains
- Mix white vinegar and water with equal amount each.
- Use a spray bottle for the mixture for saturation.
- Leave the stain untouched for 10 to 15 minutes.
- After the time elapsed, rub a sponge to the stain
- Rinse with warm water.
- Brush the carpet pile back to its natural direction.
- Put paper towels on the top of the stained area, then put a heavy object on the towels. Let it be that way until the stain wears off.
